Hindu Funerals

Hindu Funeral Services and Traditions

  • Hindu funeral traditions serve both as a celebration of life and a remembrance of the person who passed away.
  • After passing, the body is promptly brought to the funeral home. Within a few days of passing, the family will come to the funeral home to wash, sanitize, and dress the deceased in white. Marlatt's provides families with a private washing and dressing room and all necessary personal protective equipment.
  • After the washing, a funeral service takes place. A Hindu priest will conduct their service which will include songs, chants, and scripture readings.
  • At the end of the funeral service, attendees will file past the casket to pay their final respects.
  • The deceased is then brought to the crematory for a witness cremation where family members will start the cremation process. Marlatt Funeral Home has the facilities on site to accommodate witnessed cremations.
