Obituary for Ram Meempat

Ram Meempat died peacefully on May 8, 2018 in Seattle, WA.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Padmini Meempat of Trivandrum, India; daughter and son-in-law, Maya Vengadasalam and Raja Vengadasalam of Kent, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Meera Meempat and Steven Decker of Mandeville, LA; grandson, Dhavan Vengadasalam of Los Angeles, CA; and granddaughter, Lena Decker of Mandeville, LA.
Born in Malappuram, India on January 15, 1932 to Mr. V.T. Gopalan Nair and Mrs. Meempat Ammukutty Amma, Ram immigrated to the USA in 1968 to attend Southern Illinois University. He graduated in computer science at University of Illinois at Springfield. He began his career as a programmer for the State of Illinois. He would go on to become a systems
analyst at NCR Corporation in Dayton, Ohio. In 1980, Ram joined MODCOMP in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. In 1995, Ram retired from his career as a software engineer from Hughes Network Systems in Germantown, MD. In retirement, Ram had an adventurous spirit and a continued thirst for learning. He traveled extensively and resided in various countries including Guatemala, India and Thailand. In his spare time, he pursued and completed various software certifications. Ram was the embodiment of a life-long learner and is an inspiration to his daughters and grandchildren. He fervently believed in the power of education and worked tirelessly so his children could realize the American Dream.
Ram was beloved by his family and will be deeply missed.
