Seth Alan Wood was born November 23, 2000 and was carried away to heaven on April 29, 2017. To his family and close friends he was "Baby", to his baseball family he was "SETHWOOD". Seth's final month was spent surrounded by his family and friends that Seth had touched in some small way.
Our family was fortunate enough to have been able to homeschool Seth for his entire academic life. We are so grateful for the extra love and time this allowed us together. Seth was a lover of life. He loved all things outdoors and was a great buddy for his Dad John and brother Tristan, not to mention his friends. He would rather fish than hunt or hike, and he found a way to make a little healthy competition in all that he enjoyed. Seth played football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and just about any other game you could think of. Not only did Seth love the outdoors and sports, he also loved shopping, eating ice cream and watching comedies with his mama. He enjoyed youth group and had a huge heart for Jesus.
Seth's life would seem too short to many. Those who know and love him would say the quality of life we shared with him far outweighs the quantity. You don't have to look far to find something Seth loves and something you could love about him. His smile lights up the room, and we are confident heaven is a little brighter. Seth's life is one to be celebrated. Seth battled hard the last 7 months, yet he never gave up faith, and was quick to remind us to never stop believing in God. Even in his last weeks he continued to pray with hope, not only for himself but his family and friends. We miss him every day, especially his heart for life, fun conversations, and daily schedule planning. We are so thankful that God gave him to us and we are blessed to be his family. Seth ran the race God set out before him with great stride. He enjoyed activities and friends as often as possible. He loved going to youth group. He had the opportunity to share his story, and even though he was very weak that day he ended with, "God is good." The night he was diagnosed he shared with us that he would rather have cancer and bring one person to Jesus than die quickly and bring none. Seth's love for God and others is big, and I know we will feel it for eternity.
Seth is survived by his loving parents John and Vicki Wood and his brother Tristan; his maternal grandmother Marian Blansett: his paternal grandparents Robert and Kathryn Wood. His Aunts: Rose Parkhurst, Kendi Blansett, Heidi Welker, Cyndi Wright, Lori Luppino and Julie Cook. His uncles Fausto Cettolin, Ricardo Cettolin, Ivan Parkhurst , Gary Wright, and Craig Welker as well as numerous cousins and beloved friends.
