Robert Ira Scheidegger (MSG US Army, Ret.) passed away on January 31st, 2017. Bob was born in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania on August 11, 1926. He and Dorothy, his wife of 68 years, had lived in Kent, Washington since 1967.
Bob joined the US Army in 1944, and served his country as a career soldier for 22 years. He served in Europe during World War II and in Korea during the Korean War.
While stationed at Fort Knox, he met Dorothy Mary Becker of Louisville, Kentucky. They were married on October 1, 1948. They lived many years in Lakewood, Washington, and 3 years in Munich, Germany. Bob's last duty before retirement was as National Guard advisor in Yakima, Washington.
After retirement from the Army, they moved to Kent. Bob worked for Boeing, for Swedish Hospital, and finally for the State of Washington, at the Echo Glen Facility, until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; by a brother, William; sons Robert Jr and his wife Cheryl of Yakima, James and his wife Camellia of Spokane, and Donald of Kent; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred and by his daughter Sharon.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 17th. A graveside service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery at 10:00 AM, followed by a service and reception at Mountain Vineyard Christian Fellowship at 11:00.
