Obituary for Elsie Rossart

Elsie Rossart, 91, passed quietly to heaven on July 4th, 2018, following a long but valiant struggle.
Elsie was born Elsie Mulder in 1927 in Carnation, Washington after her parents immigrated from the Friesland area of Holland with their family. Her father was a dairy farmer. After spending several years in the U.S., the family returned to The Netherlands. They spent much of WWII in Holland. Toward the end of the war, Elsie and her family returned to the U.S. where she married and subsequently divorced.

Elsie worked for many years repairing telephones at the Western Electric facility in Kent WA before she retired. Elsie loved gardening and cooking natural foods. She lived for several years in the SHAG apartments in Kent where she frequently tended the garden in front of the apartments, before moving to an assisted living facility and later to an Adult Family Home. Elsie was also recognized for several years of volunteer service at the Kent Senior Center.

Elsie was the last of her immediate family, preceded in death by her brothers Abel, Jacob and Nicholas Mulder and her sister Tina De Swart. Elsie had no children but is survived by her sister-in-law, Anna Mulder formerly of Kent WA and numerous nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Elsie was a gentle, quiet and religious lady who referred to herself to the end as a "tough Dutch lady."
