Marlatt Funeral Home and Crematory

Cremation Code of Ethics

At Marlatt Funeral Home our licensed funeral directors are committed to a strict code of ethics. This 8-step code is followed by each member of our staff throughout the cremation process. By following these steps we can ensure that your loved one is cared for with the utmost respect.

1. Honoring life

It is our goal to create the most meaningful funeral or memorial service for your loved one. We will join together with you to help in the planning of a private viewing, funeral, memorial or gathering which will appropriately honor your loved one’s life. A meaningful ceremony gives the chance for family and friends to celebrate and share memories of the one who has passed.

2. Your loved one never leaves our care

Since we have our own crematory and cremation facility on our premises; all services are managed on site by our certified staff.

3. Safeguarding personal identity

To guarantee security, a band is placed on your loved one to provide identification as soon as your loved one is placed in our care.

4. Tracking System

Your loved one is also logged into our system under a personal identification number, which is stamped into a stainless steel disc. This number is used throughout the cremation process to track every step along the way.

5. Family selection

Our staff will ask you, or a representative to select an urn, casket or cremation container of your choice.

6. Cremation assurance process

All cremation paperwork is first reviewed and signed by both a cremation technician as well as a licensed funeral director before the cremation begins. The name of your loved one, the identification number, the crematory’s information, the date and time of cremation and any other information regarding the cremation are all recorded in a log book. These documents are then placed outside of the facility and the stainless steel disc is placed inside the cremation chamber during the cremation process.

7. After the cremation

Once the cremation process is complete, the cremated remains are placed into an urn with the stainless steel identification disc.

8. Receiving the cremated remains

Once the process is finished our staff will notify you to schedule a time for receipt of the cremated remains. During this time we will obtain the signature of an authorized person for release.
